Play Fest ran October 13–19, 2026, in select markets. Think of it less as a sale and more as a week-long festival inside Google Play: Play Points sweepstakes entries, pre-registration for Angry Birds 2, leagues for Free Fire and 8 Ball Pool, plus a set of limited-time offers. Fun — but the kind of fun where the fine print does a lot of the talking, which is exactly why our Short about it was a checklist, not a hype reel.
What Play Fest actually offered
- Play Points sweepstakes entries — the headline act, with its own eligibility rules and its own, later end date (more on that below).
- Game moments — pre-registration for Angry Birds 2, plus leagues for Free Fire and 8 Ball Pool players.
- Limited-time offers — available during the festival window, and only while supplies lasted.
One timing note, stated plainly: the offers window closed October 19 — earlier, where supplies ran out. The sweepstakes runs to November 2, so if you entered, that second clock is the one still ticking. And the same four checks apply to the next event Google runs like this.
The 4 checks before you join anything
- Check you're actually eligible. The sweepstakes was open only to select U.S. Play Points members aged 18+. Availability varied by market and account — an offer appearing in a headline does not mean it appears for you.
- Read the end dates twice. Play Fest offers ended October 19, or earlier if supplies ran out; the sweepstakes ends November 2. Two different clocks on the same event is exactly how people miss the one they cared about.
- Check the point cost before you tap. Entries and offers can cost Play Points, and costs and terms vary. Verify the price and the terms inside Google Play before spending — points spent on an offer you weren't eligible for are points gone.
- Look for the free entry route first. No purchase was necessary for the sweepstakes, and the official rules include a free entry method. Find it in the rules before you pay or spend points to enter.
The headline is the prize. The terms decide whether you can actually win it.
How to check on your phone
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon.
- Open Play Points. That page is where your account's eligibility, point balance, live offers and their costs show up — the version of the event that applies to you, not the press-release version.
- Open the offer or sweepstakes itself and read its own terms: end date, point cost, and who can enter, all before you confirm anything.
The bottom line
Play Fest was a genuinely fun idea — rewards, leagues and offers gathered in one place for a week. It just rewarded the careful: the people who checked eligibility, deadlines and point costs first. Full honesty, as in the video: no game or prize was tested, entered or received by The Tech Drop. We read the announcement and the terms so you know what to verify — the verifying, on your own account, takes about a minute.
