If you edit video, photos, or music on a Mac, this is one of those updates that quietly removes a pile of small bills and browser tabs. Apple confirmed the Creator Studio update on October 27, 2026, and it arrives on the App Store this November as a free update for existing subscribers. New subscribers pay $12.99/month or $129/year (education: $2.99/month). One-time purchase prices stay the same — Final Cut Pro $299.99, Logic Pro $199.99, Pixelmator Pro $49.99.
The theme of this update: the extra tools you used to buy separately are now just… in the app.
What changed in Final Cut Pro
- MotionVFX is built in. Thousands of visual effects, plug-ins, transitions, templates, and titles now live inside Final Cut Pro — including rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading tools that used to mean a separate purchase.
- A smoother photo handoff. Open a timeline image in Pixelmator Pro, edit it, and save it straight back — no reimporting.
- Content Hub video assets are now available inside Final Cut Pro, and transcription gains 23 new languages.
What changed everywhere else
- Pixelmator Pro — Generate Fill. Circle an area, describe the change in plain words, and it matches the lighting, perspective, and texture. Super Resolution upscales the result, and generated elements can land as new layers with intelligent masking.
- Logic Pro — an intelligent assistant (beta). Start a song or set up a vocal track from one prompt, plus an enhanced Stem Splitter that can isolate drum parts without the original multitracks, and a redesigned Browser with the Splice library. The assistant needs macOS 27 on an Apple Intelligence Mac, U.S. English only.
- Keynote, Pages, and Numbers — AI assistants (beta) that understand your document's context, plus MCP support so external AI agents can read, edit, and automate in the apps (Mac-only, macOS 27).
What to try first
- Rebuild one old project with the built-in MotionVFX titles and transitions — that's the fastest way to feel whether the plug-in purchases you were planning are now unnecessary.
- Try Generate Fill on one real photo — describe a small fix, then zoom in and judge the lighting match for yourself.
- Check your system requirements before counting on the beta assistants — they need Apple Intelligence devices on the newest OS versions, in U.S. English.
Studios run on small savings repeated daily: one less plug-in subscription, one less round-trip between apps. That's exactly the kind of update this is.
